Our acupuncturist uses the points along the meridian, called qi points (pronounced "chee"), to balance and restore the natural energy flow throughout the body. There are countless conditions that acupuncture can help, some of which include: sleep, stress, digestive disorders, headaches, neck and lower back pain, arthritis.

Acupuncture FAQ:

Does it hurt, will I bleed?

Most people feel little to no discomfort with the insertion of the needles, however you may feel a slight tingling sensation or a dull ache. The needles used for acupuncture are less painful to insert compared to traditional needles used for injections, as they are very different; acupuncture needles are smaller and not hollow.

Only occasionally will there be a dot of blood, within the technique this is referred to as "heat" within a point, but it is normal and absolutely nothing to worry about.

How long is a session?

A typical session would last between 20-40 minutes. The needles need to be left in place for 5-30 minutes once they are inserted, it all depends on the treatment you are receiving and the amount of blockage in your qi.

How soon do I feel the effects of acupuncture?

Most people feel it right away but it will keep working for hours, days and weeks after a treatment depending on your condition.

What should I wear to my appointment?

It is best to wear loose clothing or to bring shorts and a tank top to change into. As noted above, the meridian runs up and down the body so our acupuncturist may need to access different qi points in your arms, legs, feet, hands, or forehead.

Can I get a massage or an adjustment on the same day?

Absolutely, a patient can have all three treatments in one visit. Our front desk can help you schedule multiple services in our clinic.
