The Neuro-Cognitive Program at Unity Chiropractic and Wellness Center
The Neuro-Cognitive Program at Unity Chiropractic and Wellness Center is crafted to support the unique needs of individuals aiming to reach their fullest potential in learning, behavior, and social connections. Our goal is to foster optimal brain development at every age, offering a holistic path for personal growth and wellness.
Who Can Benefit from the Neuro-Cognitive Program?
This program is designed for anyone between the ages of 4 to 100 who may be experiencing challenges with learning, social interactions, behavior, or development. By addressing the root causes of these challenges, we work to help clients find harmony in how they interact with their environment, build relationships, and achieve their goals.
Why Choose the Neuro-Cognitive Program?
Human development is shaped by diverse factors, from early experiences to environmental influences, each impacting foundational skills such as movement, sensory processing, and communication. When these essential skills are disrupted, they often manifest as "Deflective Behaviors"—patterns that hinder natural growth and adaptation. Our Neuro-Cognitive Program aims to identify and work through these patterns, enabling clients to move past limitations and thrive in new, meaningful ways.
Specialized Training for Neuro-Cognitive Program Providers
Our providers have advanced training in understanding developmental stages, the neurological impacts of stress, and the latest strategies in neuro-focused care for learning and behavior. Each doctor is committed to ongoing education and collaboration, ensuring a high level of care tailored to the needs of every client. Our comprehensive, functional brain-based assessments allow us to craft a plan unique to each individual’s journey.
Our Inspiration and Commitment to Neurodevelopmental Care

"Growing up on the South Side of Chicago, I was the shy kid in class, the one whose heart raced and palms sweated just to say “here” for attendance. I saw firsthand how the school system often left kids behind—kids who learned differently or faced challenges that no one seemed to notice. I struggled through school and even college, determined to earn my business degree. Along the way, I found resources that helped me understand my unique learning style, and that realization was life-changing. It made me wonder how many children out there are just like I was, needing someone to see and support them for who they truly are.
For over 30 years, I’ve dedicated myself to pediatric chiropractic care, driven by a passion to help children in a world that often feels overwhelming. As a mother in a blended family of five children, I learned the complexities of child development and family dynamics on a personal level, which has deepened my empathy and understanding in my practice. In recent years, I’ve seen a tremendous rise in neurodiversity and other sensitivities among children, many of whom are navigating traumas, constant digital stimulation, and the weight of modern stress.
My mission is to provide a sanctuary where every child feels safe, valued, and understood, especially those with unique needs who might otherwise be overlooked. I am here to honor their individuality, their resilience, and to support them in finding their own path to thriving in a way that respects who they are. Helping children flourish, no matter what challenges they face, is my greatest passion and purpose."

"My journey into chiropractic care began when I was 12 years old. After being diagnosed with scoliosis, I was presented with a difficult choice: undergo spinal surgery or try chiropractic care. Choosing chiropractic over surgery was one of the most defining decisions of my life. As a young patient, I felt the immense benefits that this care provided me. It was more than just relief from discomfort; chiropractic opened my eyes to a way of healing that supported my whole body, mind, and spirit. That experience sparked a love and dedication for chiropractic that has only grown stronger over time.
I’ve always had a deep interest in the human body and a desire to help people. But what drew me most to chiropractic was its holistic approach—focusing on the root causes of issues rather than simply treating symptoms. This approach makes it possible to support true healing, and it resonated with me far more than the conventional pain-based methods of Western medicine.
As my career progressed, my love for working with children led me to specialize in pediatric and perinatal chiropractic care. I saw firsthand how underserved these populations are and how often their unique needs go unmet. Families with young children, especially those with developmental and neurodiverse conditions, frequently struggle to find options that support whole-person health and development. The more I worked with these families, the more passionate I became about advocating for them and offering care that provides hope and tangible support.
During my specialized training in pediatric chiropractic—and as I navigated the joys and challenges of raising my own children—I began to see just how crucial a neuro-based approach is. Working with children has given me unique insight into how impactful chiropractic care can be for them, especially for those facing developmental and neurological challenges. I realized that many families lack access to comprehensive, neurological-based care, which is often essential for helping children overcome the hurdles they face.
Today, my mission is to empower these families through neuro-based chiropractic care. I want to give them more than just a temporary solution—I want to offer a path to lasting wellness and developmental support. My own journey from patient to practitioner has shown me the transformative potential of chiropractic care, and I’m honored to share that with others, especially those who have limited options."

"My interest in chiropractic and functional neurology developed from a lifetime of firsthand experiences with the nervous system and its impact on development and behavior. From birth complications and early head trauma to challenges in childhood learning and sensory processing, I experienced many of the same obstacles that I now help others navigate.
Diagnosed with ADHD at age five, I grew up in a system that wasn’t built for the way my brain worked. I participated in special education, received speech therapy, and often struggled to connect socially and academically. Traditional learning environments didn’t align with how I processed information, but alternative education eventually allowed me to understand and apply knowledge in ways that made sense to me. Those experiences shaped how I approach care today—recognizing that every nervous system learns, grows, and adapts differently.
A major turning point came in my mid-twenties after being hit by a car. Chiropractic care not only addressed my physical pain but also improved my mental clarity and emotional regulation. That experience prompted me to study chiropractic and later explore functional neurology to better understand why those changes occurred. During my training, I discovered that I had retained primitive reflexes—an insight that explained many of the coordination, focus, and behavioral challenges I had faced since childhood. Through targeted neurological care, I experienced measurable improvements that reinforced my belief in the body’s ability to reorganize and heal when given the right input.
My niece’s diagnosis with Phelan-McDermid syndrome has further shaped my dedication to supporting children with developmental and neurological differences. Observing her growth and resilience has deepened my commitment to providing care that supports the unique needs of neurodiverse individuals and their families.
Today, my focus is on helping children and adults whose nervous systems function outside the expected pattern—those who learn differently, process differently, or have faced neurological challenges. The obstacles that once made life difficult for me now serve as the foundation for my work: understanding the complex interplay between structure, function, and development, and helping others reach their potential through precise, compassionate chiropractic and neurological care."
